My dear friends tease me about how I say “MY husband “I guess because I always change my tone and could refer to him as Alex but after 28 years it never gets old. I must admit I truly do adore him. Well, most of the time. Since it is Thanksgiving week and it’s the time when family and friends gather and give thanks and express gratitude, I want to express my gratitude for Alex, my best friend, the father to our children and the person I am most thankful for today.
I often played the game and sang the nursery rhyme, Ring around the Rosie with my friends as a young girl. Learning of the folklore meaning today, I can relate to the ashes part, however as a child I never knew what we were really singing about.
I can hardly believe that school has started, and our summer is coming to a close. The months of May, June and July flew by like the warm summer breezes. As I sit here today reflecting on those beautiful moments with gratitude, and think back to the three destinations across Florida that I recently had the opportunity to visit.
Good morning Tampa Bay! We can all breathe a sigh of relief the storm has passed. Being a Floridian for 30 years I am typically over prepared, and under enthused – I am after all married to a civil engineer for the stormwater department. Nothing says true Florida native like sleeping through a category 1 hurricane.
The other day I had lunch with a couple of dear friends, and by the end of our shared meal, it occurred to me how grateful I was for their friendship. Not that I wasn’t grateful before, but maybe that I took those moments or shared times for granted.
Today is a day of celebration and reflection. I reflect and look back at the young 23-year-old that hopped in her car and followed a road map to Tampa in May of 1991. After just a day in Tampa, I was invited to go out to celebrate my birthday at a local bar. Yep, just one day in town and I was ready to see what this new city has to offer.
Now day’s when I wake up its pretty peaceful. As a mother of four, I remember the early mornings and pitter pat of feet and joyous squeals of my children playing. My husband and I have one son at home now and he sleeps in and is fairly quiet and doesn’t disturb for the most part.
Woo hoo! June 1, 2021 is here, and we begin a new month. I love the beginning of a new month as I have probably set some goals that I want to accomplish.
