Home Vibes

Hump Day and Home Vibes… Feeling pretty good and that’s the truth. (Great song by Travis Tritt by the way)

Nowadays, when I wake up its pretty peaceful. As a mother of four, I remember the early mornings and pitter pat of feet and joyous squeals of my children playing. My husband and I have one son at home now and he sleeps in and is fairly quiet and doesn’t disturb for the most part. So, when my feet hit the floor, I am able to stop, say a prayer and begin my day. The first things I see when I wake are important to me because I believe it sets the tone for the day. For me it’s the light that filters through my soft linen curtains, the beautiful green plant on my dresser, the picture of the Virgin Mary to the right side of our bed and my grandmothers mirror. All these items invoke a response in me that really does make me feel happy.

The vibes of my home and or/décor are fairly simple in nature and I do not own a lot of extravagant items, however, I won’t knock extravagance. One can find beauty in many things. I like to say as a homeowner I have spent many of my years perfecting the feel and look of our home. It’s the little things for me really. While my taste has changed over the years, I notice I gravitate towards the same colors or fabrics. In fact, I have noticed the more things change the more I stay the same with my décor. I enjoy comfortable and cozy spaces. I love greenery, plants, pots, vases and ceramics. Using many of the simplest items to decorate and placing items on almost every table or bare piece of furniture. Pillows are a must on every couch or chair, this is an addiction I inherited from my mother. Ha! Some rooms are more cleared out than others and the areas that need help or decluttering are our office and our son’s bedroom. For the most part, I feel I have settled in to knowing more of what I like, and I take time to purchase or keep items as opposed to when we owned our first home. Styles change for sure and it’s fun to keep up with the newest and latest design trends, however I have been known to toss or give away home items only to purchase a very similar items later. My good friends and family can attest to this! So, what are some of your favorite ways to decorate? What does your home vibe say about you? Isn’t it fun to spend time shopping and searching for just the right things to make your home feel like you?

June may be a good time to change things up for summer.  Give it a try! I have already changed out my blankets, towels, and of course pillows. Creating that vibe that say’s this is who I am is fun. Think about what you see when you first wake in the morning. What are some of the first things you see and how do those things/items in your environment make you feel? Look at what may need to be cleared out or changed, notice the lighting, what are some of the first items you see? It may seem silly but it’s the little things that can affect your mood and set the tone for the day. Have fun creating your home vibe!
