Hello! Sheila Awad here. An about me feels so corny in a way, but allow me to introduce myself and give you just a brief glimpse of who I am and a little slice of my life. I am originally from St. Joseph, Missouri. I have lived in Texas, California, Colorado and have now been a resident of Tampa, Florida since 1991. I moved here in May of 1991 on my birthday May 30th, it was the day after that I met the love of my life Alexander Awad a senior staffer with the City of Tampa, civil engineer, avid runner, passionate Lebanese man of faith and my best friend.
Once we met, we hardly spend time apart. I was on my way to discover Miami, and well Alex helped me to be a bit more grounded and decided to introduce me around. There is a story there... we will cover later. I must also mention a dear friend of mine for many years who helped me make the journey to Tampa by supporting and helping me through one of the most difficult and challenging times of my life. God Bless Tony Zapponne. Writer, teacher, advocate and gentle spirit.
Shortly after I met Alex I decided to apply and attend the University of South Florida where I earned a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Sociology. I had a variety of jobs leading up to my current career in real estate. I have been a counselor and program director for the YMCA afterschool programs, a fundraiser and development manager for The Spring of Tampa Bay and I started and owned a retail storefront in Palma Ceia. I have always been a huge advocate of small businesses and with the help of 5 to 10 other dedicated businesses in the area we were able to start the first merchant association in Palma Ceia and commission an artist to name the district, Palma Ceia Design Business District. I am now currently working as a licensed Real Estate Sales agent for Palermo Real Estate Professionals. I have about 11 years experience in the industry.
When Alex and I were first married at Sacred Heart Catholic church we had many plans and goals for the future. Our diverse backgrounds and cultural experience have made my life so full and well rounded. We started a family soon after we married and moved into our first home, an adorable bungalow in an area called Seminole Heights. We have four beautiful children (two boys and two girls ) Summer, Samantha, John & Joseph. We now reside in Palma Ceia where all our children attended local public schools and have since attended Florida State University (with the exception of Joseph who will now be a Senior in High School). Many beautiful milestones and life challenges have transpired since I first made the drive to Tampa, Florida. I hope to share, uplift and learn from creating or writing this blog. I look forward to the evolution of this and am excited to share and learn through others.
